Happy 2nd Birthday Ethan!

What joy you have brought to our lives the past two years. We love you so much. We love watching you grow into such an interesting, fun, cuddly, energetic little boy. You never seize to amaze us with the things you discover (usually sooner than we're prepared for). By your second birthday you've decided you like using the potty like your big sis does. Mommy and Daddy are not working hard to get you potty trained, but we are just letting you lead. You've also been in a big boy bed for a couple weeks now. Although many of our nicknames include the words "crazy," or "monster," there are certain things that you are just so good about...one of those being going to bed. If it gets too far past your bedtime, you'll ask us to take you. You've been taking your nap in our bed for quite sometime, and would never get out of bed after we lay you down. So we thought you'd do quite well with a toddler bed. We weren't necessarily in a rush to get you into a "big boy bed," but it sure would make it much easier for us to change the sheets on your bed! Oh, and you would just look SO cute in a big boy bed :) So for the past two weeks, you've been going down for bed in your toddler bed, and without any problems. You just lay your little head right down on your Star Wars pillow case (that Daddy picked out for you), you clutch onto your sippy cup of water, and then there you stay...barely budging, before drifting off to sleep, to sleep through the night.
Yes, you still have curly hair. We were curious what would happen to the curls once we cut them off after your first birthday. If your hair grows out, the curls start popping up :) It can be very cute, but once it gets too long, it just looks messy...so we usually keep it short. Plus, I'm sure the short hair feels better on you with this Georgia heat.
You still have a grin that lights up a room. Whenever someone meets your sister, they say, "Wow, she's tall." When someone meets you, they say, "What a smile!"
Speaking of your sister, she loves you so much. The first 6+ months of your life, she wasn't so thrilled to have you around all the time, but now it drives her crazy when you're not around. If you do something wrong and Mommy or Daddy gets upset with you, quite often Madeline will stand up for you and say, "awwww, but Mommy, he just wants to play with water. Can you let him play with it please??" She has been so excited about your 2nd birthday and has been counting down the days for a couple weeks. Every day she has drawn you some sort of picture and put it away in a special spot to save for your birthday...and she does this all on her own. In fact, she's so excited about your birthday, that she's having a hard time falling asleep tonight (I'm writing this the night before your birthday). Madeline loves to teach you and she loves to watch you learn. Mommy and Daddy LOVE this and pray it continues for a long, long time. Don't get me wrong though...you do love to drive her crazy. ...but we think she secretly enjoys it :)
Ethan, you are so loved. God loves you. Your Mommy loves you. Your Daddy loves you. Your sister loves you. Your Marmie and Pop love you. Your MomMom andPoppy love you. Your Great Grandparents love you. Your Aunts and Uncles love you. Your cousins (you have 7 right now) love you. And all the friends you've made here in Georgia the past two years love you.
We look forward to many more adventures with you Ethan :)
